I remember enjoying 4chan for a very short period of time, memes and somethings, it wasn't long but there it was. However, I also think giving a given website "first site where something happened" credit for whatever was picked up elsewhere to be a silly concept.
Users make a community (for better or worse) not a given site and those users migrate elsewhere and things evolve and so on. Someone(s) ability to put up a forum or site just isn't that.

Wired is dead. Once at the vanguard of the web it now rots behind a paywall.
We used to joke that wired was tired even in it's heyday of the 1990s.
Wired has always just been the slick "glamor mag" of tech.
