Show HN: VR CPR app where the heart and lungs compress based on ur hand position
meta.comI built this VR CPR app that uses hand tracking, where the heart and lungs compress based on the depth of your hands during chest compression
Love to hear any feedback or suggestions on the app
Cheers
So first of all: looks neat, and a very nice us of VR! Even to someone like me who doesn't own a VR headset.
Anyway, my attempt at constructive feedback.
I just read article that pointed out that CPR manikins are pretty much exclusively male, and that this probably contributes to women being less likely to receive effective CPR[0]. A quick look only shows male models in your screenshots and videos too. That may be an editing coincidence, but if not: something to consider adding? That would immediately set you apart from the "competition", considering that lack of female CPR manikins.
Another thing that came to mind was that I happen to have done a remote "first aid for babies and toddlers" course offered by the Red Cross. Baby and child CPR training were part of it, and explained to be quite different (you need to use two fingers, be more careful with the amount of force, etc). So similarly to female patients: maybe consider adding younger patients?
Then again, perhaps the choice to not include either was conscious, to avoid the possibility of toxic players streaming themselves abusing women and children in your VR app. Or it could be a money/time budget thing.
Either way, good luck with the app!

That’s really something that would need some kind of force feedback.
Maybe the instructions and marketing can suggest to use a pillow?
In the remote first aid course I attended we were told to wrap two empty plastic bottles with a closed cap (so with "air pressure") tightly inside a T-shirt.
